A Great Three Days..
“Talk about stepping out of your every day urban lifestyle! We had a great three days staying in the gorgeous, picturesque Waipio Valley, something you can only do if taken there by a resident. Host drove us and our 4 kids into the valley on a road that is closed to the public; route involved fording streams (!!). (We left our car at their other property). There is a two-building set of houses with ample room to spread out and many beds. Everything was spotless. Hosts provided abundance of of water-cooler style jugs of drinking water, which was good because that did not occur to us. (There is ample running water in sinks and the showers, but you should not drink it.) Go to sleep listening to birds chatter and wake up to same. See more stars than ever seen anywhere else. Short walk to a water fall. Longer walk/hike to the ocean -- it took us 45 minutes with a 7 year old. The day we were there in January it was too rough to swim and too rocky but it was gorgeous. Glad we went.” - Emily, January 2025
Away From the Hustle and Bustle…
“This was a stay unlike any we had experienced so far. Away from the bustle of Hawaii, nestled away in the lush rainforest of the valley with plenty of fruit on trees all around us asking to be plucked, we felt very grateful for everything around us. We stayed here with our two girls 8,5, who absolutely enjoyed the very private beach and the cute little waterfall. Couldn’t believe the waterfall fed pool was just 2 mins from the gate. The hosts were very gracious and helpful with everything. Absolutely must do in waipio if you have a couple of days. Give the hosts a call and talk your plans through for ideas and such. The place is very well stocked for all the usual needs, from bug spray to coffee. Also probably has the best collection of coffee table books. The hike to Waipio beach and time spent felt like fairy tale. Writing this review I’m suddenly reminded of the complete dark of the night, the view from our room of the starry sky, and the unforgettable sounds of the rainforest.- Archana, December 2024
Once in a Lifetime Experience…
“Our stay in Waipi'o Valley was amazing. We didn't realize, but the valley is a historical Hawaiian site, with natural beauty, the opportunity to disconnect and explore hidden waterfalls and a cool black sand beach. Kristi and Sukumar were very friendly and flexible, made us feel genuinely welcomed, were communicative, and the property itself was comfortable and well-equipped. The only minor consideration was less flexibility due to needing a shuttle in and out of the valley, so ensure you plan ahead to arrange it. It was a once in a lifetime experience that connected us deeply with the beauty of Hawaii. Highly recommended.” - Tae, March 2024
Wow!
“Wow! This is a once in a lifetime place to stay. Off the grid, yet clean, with electricity and full plumbing. Beautiful location which would not be accessible to visitors if you weren’t staying here. Short walk to a waterfall and 25-30 min walk on a shaded trail to an epic black sand beach. For those interested in a little adventure, I’d highly recommend this house.” - David, September 2023
Paradise!
“For me and my Retreat group, staying in Waipio Valley Botanical Garden will always be one of the most magical and wonderful memories of my life. It was exceptional and uniquely beautiful. The house is of high quality, the bedrooms, beds, mattresses, the bed linen just heavenly beautiful and comfortable. The facilities of the entire house exceed everything we have ever experienced, great kitchen with everything you need, the materials in all rooms are of high quality and of course. Everything was very individual and designed with great attention to detail. The location spectacular in the middle of the holy valley full of lush vegetation and fantastic nature, you miss the words. The path to the beach is magically beautiful and the beach a natural spectacle of the special class. It was incredibly nice to communicate with our host, Kristi is totally welcoming, accommodating, think of everything and nothing is too much or too tedious for her. She is an extremely friendly person always available and helpful. There is no problem with the shuttles going down to the valley, we were able to comfortably leave our cars at Kristi's. All our luggage and food was brought down, I would have liked to stay for a few weeks! All 12 of us can recommend this house and the uncomplicated and friendly handling of whole hearts....anytime again !! The most stunning place on earth! Thank you dear Kristi and family you were the best hosts ever!!!” - Manuela, March 2024
